Questions for Students
Registering for CWE
Incoming freshmen should attend CWE because through CWE you will register for your fall semester classes. If you do not attend CWE for any reason, you will need to attend a one-day orientation session in August, and will register for classes after all of the CWE sessions have occurred. Attending Camp War Eagle is highly advantageous for incoming freshmen.
CWE is where you will learn about Auburn, ask questions, meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, and meet other people from the incoming freshman class. Attendance at all Camp War Eagle events during your session is required.
Please note that not all colleges will be available for advising during each session of Camp War Eagle. Therefore, you should select a session that fits best with your schedule that also provides the college you need for your major advising and registration.
The session dates with college availability can be found here: auburn.edu/cwe/dates.
It should also be noted that selecting an earlier session of Camp War Eagle WILL NOT give you an advantage in registering for classes during your course registration period. There will be a similar distribution of seats in core classes provided for each session so that all incoming freshman students who participate in CWE have an equal chance of selecting necessary and desired courses.
The Camp War Eagle fee for an on-campus session is $150 per student. The fee for an on-campus session for each parent or guest who registers is $75.
Camp War Eagle fees are applied to your Auburn billing statement and will appear on the first eBill you receive for fall semester in mid-July. No payment is required at the time you sign up for CWE.
Please note that all Camp War Eagle fees are assessed at the time of program registration and are NOT refundable.
You’re able to inform us of any accommodation needs for you or your family when you register for CWE. If you did not inform us at that time, please contact the First Year Experience at fyedesk@auburn.edu. We will make every effort to accommodate you to the best of our ability.
You should also contact Auburn University’s Office of Accessibility at 334-844-2096. Their staff will determine appropriate accommodations to provide support to you throughout your time at Auburn. More information can be found on the Office of Accessibility website.
Once you register for CWE, it is preferred that you remain in that session. However, if a session change is necessary, please email our office at fyedesk@auburn.edu with all of your available options and we will assist you in finding another available session. Please email our office from your Auburn University email account or call us at 334-844-4501.
Please note that all Camp War Eagle fees, including those for registered parents and/or guests, are assessed at the time of Camp registration and are NOT refundable.
The 12 sessions are capped and are first come, first served. We do not have a waitlist for CWE sessions. However, seats may become available. Please call our office at 334-844-4501 to see if your desired session has become available.
Travel and flight arrangements should not be confirmed prior to scheduling your session.
Your anticipated departure time from Camp War Eagle will be around 4:30 pm CT on the second day of your session (Tuesday or Friday). Please keep this in mind as you make travel plans. If you are flying out of Atlanta after your session, it would be best to fly after 9:30 pm ET to allow time for class registration at the end of your session, plus travel time to the airport. These five hours account for getting to the airport, the one-hour time change, and navigating to your gate.
Students who need housing the night before their session begins can indicate this when choosing a CWE session. Housing is provided in our residence halls for students on this night at no additional cost. Roommates are assigned randomly. We do not accept roommate requests at CWE. Housing is not available the night following your session.
Camp Staff will be present and there will be limited social programming scheduled on this night. Dinner opportunities will be made available, but the meal is not provided so be sure to bring sufficient money to eat this night.
It is not necessary to contact us if your plans have changed regarding your early arrival status. Whether you signed up to be an early arrival but are not coming in early, or if you did not sign up to be an early arrival but now need to be one, just adjust your plans accordingly. We will be prepared either way.
If you are spending the night on campus the night before your session, please bring comfortable, casual clothing and comfortable shoes for walking. Toiletries and linens are not provided at CWE. Please bring a pillow and twin XL sheets or sleeping bag, towels, washcloths, and toiletries such as shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
If you come into town the night before your CWE session, you are not required to stay on campus in the residence halls. However, you are required to stay on campus the night of your session.

You will receive a series of updates from the First Year Experience office to your Auburn account regarding your CWE session. Immediately after registering for your session, you will receive an automated session confirmation to your Auburn email. In early May, a confirmation packet will be posted on our website that includes things to do before your session, what to bring to your session, and lodging info for your parents and family members. Finally, approximately one week before your session date, you will receive an email to your Auburn account with information regarding your specific session that includes parking directions and a campus map.
You will also receive communication from your academic advisors and other campus departments. It is critical that you check your Auburn email regularly and frequently.
Students will stay in assigned residence halls on campus. Students are not permitted to stay in off-campus locations during CWE.
You will need to bring comfortable, casual clothing for both days of CWE and comfortable shoes for walking. Toiletries and linens are not provided at CWE. Please bring a pillow and twin XL sheets or sleeping bag, towels, washcloths, and toiletries such as shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. We recommend you bring a backpack to carry your CWE materials. A laptop or tablet will be helpful in planning for your fall class schedule while at CWE.
You will also need money:
- If you arrive at CWE the night before the session starts and need to eat dinner.
- If you are interested in visiting one of the local Auburn businesses before or after Camp War Eagle.
It is highly suggested that you do not bring any valuable items to CWE.
You will be assigned to a small group of students. In order to create the best opportunity to meet new people, you will most likely not be grouped with other students from your hometown or high school. Roommates will be randomly assigned. We do not accept roommate requests.
Your CWE schedule is very full, and all portions are mandatory. Therefore, you may not leave campus during CWE. Leaving campus at any time during your CWE session may result in you not being eligible to register for classes.
Academics and Course Registration
On the morning of Day 2 of Camp War Eagle, students will meet with academic advisors from their college/school in a group setting. Parents will also attend at least a portion of this meeting. After lunch, students will meet again with their advisor for final questions and fall semester registration while parents and guests return to their programmed events.
In the advising process, you will learn more about your curriculum and the classes you should enroll in for fall semester.
No. Attending an earlier session of Camp War Eagle WILL NOT give you an advantage in registering for classes. There will be a similar distribution of seats in core classes provided for each session, so all incoming freshman students who participate in CWE have an equal chance of selecting necessary and desired courses.
Whether you choose the first or last session, you will have the same opportunity for classes.
The Auburn University Medical Clinic requires all students to turn in a Medical Information Form prior to registering for classes. The medical form should be submitted electronically via Med+Proctor on the AU Medical Clinic website. For more information, click here.
To change your major, go to your applicant portal. We recommend doing this as soon as possible, but at least one week prior to your session. You created this account when you applied to the university, so the login credentials are likely a personal email address and password rather than your Auburn username and password.
Questions for Families & Guests
The Camp War Eagle family program is not required but is strongly encouraged. This program provides a wealth of information to parents and guests of incoming freshmen to better familiarize them with the university’s programs and services.
To be added to their session, please have your student email fyedesk@auburn.edu from their Auburn account with your name, relationship, email address, and if you will need any special accommodations (i.e. mobility challenges, dietary concerns, etc.).
While on-campus lodging is not provided for parents, there are numerous hotels in the Auburn-Opelika area that are available to Camp War Eagle family members. A block of guest rooms is available at The Hotel at Auburn University. These rooms are offered at discounted rates specifically for Camp War Eagle parents and guests. To make a reservation at this discounted rate click here, or call 334-821-8200.
The Laurel Hotel & Spa, Auburn’s most elevated hotel experience and the first of its kind, is a luxury teaching hotel for the Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management at Auburn University. We are pleased to also offer a special introductory Camp War Eagle rate for parents, families, and guests. To make a reservation, click here, or call 334-249-4250.
Additionally, you may visit Auburn-Opelika Tourism for more information about lodging in the area.
Your student has the opportunity to inform us of any accommodation needs for themselves or their guests when they register for CWE. If they did not inform us at that time, please contact the First Year Experience at fyedesk@auburn.edu. We will make every effort to accommodate you to the best of our ability.
The student program and family program of Camp War Eagle are two distinct programs with separate schedules. Students and families may be together at:
- Breakout Sessions on Day 1 (if you elect to attend the same sessions)
- The Pep Rally (although families and students are seated separately)
- Academic Advising on Day 2
- Lunch on Day 2 (if you choose to eat together)
